Harita Nickel organizes BIPA instructor training to advance the internationalization of Indonesian language

Harita Nickel partnered with the North Maluku Provincial Language Office to host a Technical Guidance for future Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers instructors. This activity is part of the human resource development program, which was held to equip translators with Indonesian language learning knowledge for Foreign Workers (TKA).

A total of 25 participants attended the training on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPAL) Living Quarter. These included translators and administrative staff who work with foreign workers in various business units. 

Junaidi Arief, HR&GA Superintendent of PT HPAL, emphasized that the Bimtek is crucial for introducing Indonesian language and culture to foreign workers at the Obi site so that they can easily pick up the language through effective teaching methods.

"The standardization and rules of Indonesian language teaching that have been delivered by the North Maluku Language Office can make it easier for foreign workers at the Obi site to understand Indonesian," he said.

Furthermore, Junaidi said all foreign workers have been introduced to Indonesian culture through induction given when they first arrived at the Obi site. For example, they were told about what they could and could not do in Indonesia. With the introduction of culture and language teaching, he said, cultural acculturation and synergy between foreign workers and migrant workers can be implemented in work.

Meanwhile, Head of the North Maluku Provincial Language Office, Dr Arie Andrasyah Isa, S.S, M.Hum said BIPA is a priority program from the government to internationalize Indonesian. According to him, Harita Nickel as a company that employs foreign workers needs to provide Indonesian language lessons to facilitate their communication in carrying out their work. 

"In this Bimtek, translators and prospective teachers are equipped with various materials on how effective teaching techniques and methods for Foreign Workers," he said, while giving appreciation to Harita Nickel for supporting the BIPA program. [IC]
