2010 became a historic milestone for TBP in managing nickel natural resources in Eastern Indonesia, precisely in Kawasi Village, Obi District, South Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. We conduct mining operations at the Obi Site through the synergy with Gane Permai Sentosa in a total operating area of 5,523 hectares. Our mining is conducted through an open mining system with an open cast method and we aim to adopt best operation practices in our operations.

In 2017 we also made a rapid transformation in increasing the additional value of nickel by operating a smelter processing saprolite nickel (high-grade nickel). The realization of this smelter facility is integrated with Megah Surya Pertiwi through the application of Rotary Kiln Electric Furnace technology and ferronickel final product.

We demonstrated our commitment to support the government’s downstream processing program by building a nickel limonite processing and refinery plant (low-grade type) through our 45.1% associate Halmahera Persada Lygend.

We commenced construction of the second smelter facility of nickel saprolite processing with a larger capacity (8 lines through Halmahera Jaya Feronikel.

HPAL facility officially operated by our 45.1% associated company, PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL) since June 23, 2021. This facility is the pioneer in Indonesia to produce electric vehicle battery raw materials through the application of environmentally friendly technology, namely High-Pressure Acid Leaching. This facility produces intermediate product of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate and the end product of nickel sulfate & cobalt sulfate. The use of nickel limonite is a positive value for Indonesia and mineral conservation efforts due to it has not been utilized previously but is now has strategic value.

The second smelter facility with a larger capacity through Halmahera Jaya Feronikel has officialy operated 2 production lines with Rotary Kiln Electric Furnace technology and resulting ferronickel as the final product. Another 6 lines production will be operated in the mid of 2023. The employment of thousands of workers, the transfer of knowledge and technology, the economic impact on the community, as well as other economic and social contributions are the benefits of nickel additional value enhancement and nickel downstream on Obi Island.

The Company listed its shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) mechanism on April 12, 2023. The Company offered 7,997,600,000 shares with a nominal value of Rp100 per share with an offering price of Rp1,250 per share.
