In the midst of the bustling activities at Harita Nickel’s Obi site, the drive to create a safe work environment remains the top priority. Every step taken by the Harita workforce, from the smelting area to the mining site, reflects a collective effort to ensure health and safety. National Occupational Health and Safety Month (Bulan Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja Nasional or Bulan K3 Nasional) 2025 stands as a pivotal moment to strengthen this commitment, with the theme "Enhancing Human Resource Capacity to Support the Implementation of the K3 Management System (SMK3) to Boost Productivity."
"Without competent human resources, no matter how excellent the system, achieving its goals will be difficult," said Primus Priyanto, Chief of Mine Technical at PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk. He emphasized that the synergy between technology, procedures, and human competence is critical to the success of SMK3. The spirit of Satu Harita, Saling Menjaga lies at the core of Harita Nickel’s approach, where safety is a shared responsibility that involves every employee.
Primus explained that the strategic path to excellence in K3 competence begins with fundamental training, such as First Aid and Job Safety Analysis (JSA). However, he emphasized that understanding alone is not enough—every work process must be supported by practical implementation. "It’s about building habits that are rooted in safety," he added.
Beyond training, active employee involvement in developing documents and business processes is essential. By directly understanding potential hazards and risk controls, employees become better equipped to handle the challenges of high-risk jobs.
"The mentoring and coaching approach from supervisors provides employees with the opportunity to learn, feel supported, and grow," Primus explained. He also highlighted job rotation as a key strategy to broaden understanding of risk control across various activities.
At the heart of Harita Nickel’s safety initiatives is a culture of mutual care. "Safety is not just an individual task; it is a shared responsibility. By caring for and reminding one another, we create a safer working environment," said Primus optimistically.
For him, this commitment goes beyond accident statistics. It’s about preserving human dignity and life.
He reminded everyone that the momentum of Bulan K3 Nasional 2025 should mark the beginning of a continuous journey. “With a spirit of Continuous Improvement, every small step toward progress can transform the workplace into a safer and more humane space for all,” he concluded.
