Harita Nickel's sago conservation area in Kawasi will be fully established and managed by the Kawasi Village Government, placing stewardship of the land directly in the hands of the local community. Harita Nickel and its partners provide technical support, while land rights remain entirely with the community. The company respects and strongly promotes local ownership and stewardship, and coordinates every step of its initiatives with community representatives.

The formal establishment of the sago conservation area will bring together key stakeholders for close collaboration and coordination with the Village Government, including the Region I Conservation Section of Ternate, the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of Maluku, the Ministry of Forestry, and Harita Nickel. This collaborative approach reflects our long-term commitment to environmental preservation and meaningful community partnership.

To ensure the program is grounded in science, Harita Nickel will work with national sago experts to conduct studies on the enrichment and sustainable management of the sago conservation area. Alongside this research, the company will organize sago processing training for community members — building local capacity and skills to make the most of the region's natural resources for generations to come.
