In the global mining industry, voluntarily opening up to independent audits remains the exception rather than the rule. Yet transparency is a critical benchmark for demonstrating a company's commitment to international standards and alignment with global markets. For Harita Nickel, this openness is expressed through concrete action.
Since 2024, the company has voluntarily undergone the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) audit process, making it the first mining company in Asia to commit to implementing this standard. This journey is now approaching an important milestone, the verification of IRMA's Corrective Action Plan (CAP), which Harita Nickel will undergo in the near future.
At this stage, the improvements the company has implemented based on previous audit findings will be assessed directly on the ground, marking the culmination of a long journey that began two years ago. But before we go further into Harita Nickel's IRMA journey, let's first look at what IRMA is and why this certification matters to the company.
<h3 dir="ltr">What is IRMA?</h3>
IRMA is a global standard that assesses the operational performance of mining companies across environmental and social dimensions. The standard was established through collaboration among companies, affected communities, workers, non-governmental organizations, and buyers of mined materials. Unlike other standards that focus on specific aspects, IRMA examines the entire management system of a mining operation, from corporate governance to its impact on communities and the environment.
IRMA's evaluation process begins with a self-assessment, in which the company evaluates its own operational practices against IRMA's requirements, followed by a third-party audit conducted by independent auditors. This evaluation includes stage one, a review of document completeness, stage two, an on-site audit, and, if needed, a Corrective Action phase to address identified gaps.
Following these stages, IRMA issues an audit report. However, the assessment does not end there, as the report is reviewed periodically through a Surveillance Audit, followed by a Re-certification Audit. IRMA recognition is granted across four levels: IRMA Transparency, IRMA 50, IRMA 75, and IRMA 100, each reflecting a progressively higher degree of compliance with IRMA's standards.
<h3 dir="ltr">Why are we pursuing IRMA certification?</h3>
As an integrated nickel mining and processing company, Harita Nickel views the IRMA assessment as an opportunity to evaluate its operational practices and identify areas for improvement. This process also responds to growing global expectations for transparency and traceability across mineral supply chains, particularly for the electric vehicle industry. Through the IRMA certification process, Harita Nickel reinforces its position as a credible company in the eyes of regulators and international markets.
"IRMA gives us a framework to assess how well our operational practices align with global expectations. Taking part in IRMA means opening our operations to independent assessment against a global standard. We see this process as an opportunity to keep learning, keep improving, and build trust," said Klaus Oberbauer, Sustainability Manager at Harita Nickel.
<h3 dir="ltr">Where does Harita Nickel's IRMA audit currently stand?</h3>
At Harita Nickel, the IRMA audit process began in 2024 with stage one, the document review, followed by the Stage 2 On-Site Audit in April 2025. The process then moved into an additional document review phase from June through September 2025, with a draft report issued in October 2025.
Harita Nickel is currently in its CAP period, which began in November 2025. During this period, the company is working to address identified gaps, implement improvement initiatives, and strengthen its processes to better align with IRMA's requirements. From here, the next step is CAP verification through document review and a site visit, scheduled for late 2026, ahead of the final report's issuance once IRMA completes its review of the audit outcomes.
"For us, taking part in the IRMA process isn't just about obtaining an audit report. Every requirement we review, and every improvement opportunity we identify, becomes material for strengthening how we operate responsibly," Klaus added.
Harita Nickel's IRMA journey shows that responsible mining practice is not a destination reached once, but an ongoing process of improvement. Harita Nickel’s Journey Toward IRMA Certification

Recently, we’ve seen increasing public conversations about mining practices—many of them fueled by genuine concern for the environment, communities, and the future of our planet. At Harita Nickel, we welcome these conversations. They remind us that what we do matters deeply to many people and that responsible mining must always be built on dialogue, evidence, and continuous improvement.
We understand that some organizations and individuals have raised questions about how nickel is produced on Obi Island. These concerns are not something we shy away from. On the contrary, we view them as opportunities—to listen, to clarify, and to keep improving the way we operate.
<h2 dir="ltr">A Commitment Rooted in Responsibility</h2>

Our journey begins with a simple belief: mining, when done responsibly, can coexist with environmental stewardship and community well-being. That belief shapes everything we do—from policy to practice.
Harita Nickel’s Sustainability Policy requires strict adherence to High Conservation Value (HCV) study recommendations and aims to avoid operations in primary forests wherever technically and geologically feasible. Our long-term goal is to achieve <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/biodiversity">net conservation gain by 2043</a>, ensuring that the ecosystems we depend on are protected for generations to come. As an additional initiative to achieve the net conservation gain target, Harita Nickel established a dedicated conservation team that collaborates with local communities to educate them about, and jointly conduct biodiversity monitoring. As part of this initiative, culturally-significant sago areas have been voluntarily set aside as a conservation area that will not be used for industrial operations. To deepen our understanding beyond regulatory requirements, we developed a <a href="https://api.tbpnickel.com/storage/images/LNRA%20Versi%201.pdf">Landscape-based Nature Risk Assessment (LNRA)</a>—a science-based tool that evaluates environmental sensitivity across Obi Island. The findings are encouraging: from 2009 to 2023, Harita Nickel’s mining operations affected approximately 400 hectares of natural forest, equivalent to around 0.15% of Obi Island’s total area. In comparison, all of our mining activities across the island collectively account for about 1.4% of its total area. This underscores our commitment to minimizing ecological disturbance while pursuing responsible development.

We understand that sustainability is not only about nature—it’s about people. Across our operations, we <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/community-development-and-empowerment">actively engage with local communities</a> through Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and ongoing dialogues with local governments and civil society.
Our <a href="https://api.tbpnickel.com/storage/images/Keberlanjutan/Tentang%20Keberlanjutan/Laporan%20Keberlanjutan/Laporan%20Keberlanjutan%20Harita%20Nickel%202024.pdf">Community Development and Empowerment Programs</a> span education, healthcare, livelihood support, cultural preservation, and infrastructure improvement. These initiatives are designed not as one-off gestures but as long-term partnerships that strengthen the social fabric of the region.
To mitigate the risk of flooding during high rainfall seasons on parts of Obi Island, we collaborated with local authorities to improve drainage capacity and develop additional settling ponds.
All land on Obi Island is government-owned, including the land for the new village. For the relocation, Harita Nickel has voluntarily provided government-owned land allocated to the company for industrial use. Additionally, the company provides public services like free electricity, water supply, and social and religious infrastructures such as two schools, a dedicated jetty connected to the village by direct road access, a mosque, a church, a community hall, and a commercial area. Construction of these infrastructures has been completed.

<h2 dir="ltr">Caring for Water, Air, and the Environment</h2>
We understand that water is life, and protecting it is a duty we take seriously. Our operations on Obi Island are continuously <a href="https://api.tbpnickel.com/storage/images/Keberlanjutan/Tentang%20Keberlanjutan/Laporan%20Keberlanjutan/Laporan%20Keberlanjutan%20Harita%20Nickel%202024.pdf">monitored</a> for air and water quality, in line with Indonesian regulations and international best practices. Independent assessments, including those <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/media-statement">conducted</a> by the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Tempo, have reviewed water management practices to ensure transparency.
Our water management system includes 52 settling ponds with a combined area of about 80 hectares, designed to capture and treat sediment before the water is released back into the environment—ensuring that it consistently meets applicable quality standards.
We also <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/turning-tailing-into-opportunity">utilize</a> Dry Stack Tailings Facility (DSTF), which eliminate the need for traditional tailings dams and greatly reduce environmental risk. <h2>Reducing Emissions, Optimizing Impact</h2>
Nickel processing demands energy—and on a remote island like Obi, ensuring a reliable supply is challenging. That’s why we’re implementing a comprehensive decarbonization roadmap developed with USAID SINAR and Climate Smart Ventures.
We’ve already <a href="https://api.tbpnickel.com/storage/images/Keberlanjutan/Tentang%20Keberlanjutan/Laporan%20Keberlanjutan/Laporan%20Keberlanjutan%20Harita%20Nickel%202024.pdf">invested</a> more than IDR 796 billion in sustainability-focused energy initiatives, avoiding around 1.6 million tons of CO₂ emissions to date. Our goal is to cut absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030—measured against our 2022 baseline and operational scale—and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. This target currently applies to facilities operating as of 2022, with newer facilities to be progressively integrated into future decarbonization updates.
In 2025, we completed the construction of a solar power plant in our industrial area, bringing cleaner energy to our operations. Beyond renewables, we’re also improving efficiency through waste heat recovery, coal gas utilization, and biofuel integration—all part of a steady, practical <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/harita-nickels-response-to-recent-reports-regarding-decarbonization">transition toward a greener future</a>.

<h2>Independent Verification: Our IRMA Journey</h2>
True accountability requires independent evaluation. That’s why Harita Nickel is undergoing a&nbsp;<a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/irma-audit-harita-nickels-affirmation-of-its-commitment-to-sustainability">third-party audit</a> by the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA)—first in Indonesia to undergo the world’s most comprehensive standard for responsible mining.
The audit, conducted by SCS Global Services, assesses more than 400 criteria covering environmental protection, human rights, worker safety, and community engagement. The process began in late 2024 with a document review and continued with a full <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/announcement-on-irma-audit-stage-2">on-site audit</a> in April 2025. We are currently reviewing the draft report from the independent auditor and preparing follow-up actions in line with the IRMA process. Once the process is complete, we will share updates on our progress and continued improvements toward full alignment with international best practices.
This is more than a compliance exercise—it’s a declaration of our intent to keep learning, improving, and holding ourselves to the world’s highest standards.

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment, intimidation, or coercion. All company and security personnel are trained in the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, ensuring that protection never comes at the expense of dignity.
Our <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/public-grievances">grievance</a> and <a href="https://tbpnickel.com/en/whistleblowing">whistleblowing systems</a> are open to all—employees, partners, and communities—so that concerns can be raised safely and <a href="https://chatgpt.com/c/68e5cc83-9a24-8321-95bc-5bde25fd5b8d">addressed transparently</a>. We commit to investigate any verified report thoroughly and act with fairness and accountability while protecting the whistleblower’s confidentiality and enforcing a non-retaliation policy.

Strengthening ESG Integration Across the Value Chain

The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) is a global standard for evaluating mining industry performance in environmental, social, and occupational health and safety aspects.
As part of Harita Nickel's commitment to responsible mining, we are undergoing an independent audit by SCS Global Services (SCS) to assess our operations against IRMA standards. Notably, Harita Nickel is the first Indonesian company to commit to this rigorous audit.

The audit began on November 12, 2024, with a document review (desk review) and will proceed to the second stage, the field audit, scheduled for April 15-23, 2025. During this process, stakeholders&mdash;including local communities, organizations, public officials, and workers&mdash;are encouraged to provide input on our mining operations through the following channels.

Announcement on IRMA Audit Stage 2

<a href="https://market.bisnis.com/read/20231121/192/1716436/smelter-hpal-harita-nickel-nckl-beroperasi-pertengahan-2024">Bisnis.com, JAKARTA</a> - Nickel issuer PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) is targeting to operate a High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) based refining facility with a capacity of 65,000 tons per year by mid-2024.
Harita Nickel's Chief Executive Officer, Roy Arman Arfandy, announced that NCKL is currently preparing for the construction of its second HPAL refining facility. This facility is expected to be operational by the middle of next year.
"The production capacity of this High Pressure Acid Leach Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) is 65,000 tons of nickel metal per year," Roy told Bisnis on Tuesday (21/11/2023). The construction of this HPAL will be carried out through a subsidiary, namely PT Obi Nickel Cobalt (ONC). The plant is expected to have three production lines with a production capacity of 65,000 tons of nickel content in mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP) per year.
NCKL has expansion plans to increase production capacity to 120,000 tons of metal per year for ferronickel and MHP by the end of 2024. In addition, ferronickel capacity is expected to increase with the planned construction of the third Rotary Kiln Electric Furnace (RKEF) technology smelter, which is expected to be commissioned in 2025.
The construction of RKEF will be carried out by the affiliate PT Karunia Permai Sentosa (KPS), which is expected to have 12 production lines with a production capacity of 185,000 tons of ferronickel nickel per year.
Roy emphasizes NCKL's commitment to continue with previously planned projects.
"We will operate efficiently to ensure that all projects run smoothly and on schedule," he said.
Currently, Harita Nickel has a mining license (IUP) covering approximately 9,000 hectares, consisting of four mining concessions. Two mines are already in operation while the other two will be activated to support the supply of nickel ore feedstock in the future.
Roy also affirms NCKL's intention to continually increase the age of the mines and nickel ore reserves by acquiring new mining concessions and partnering with local mining companies. Through these projects, NCKL hopes to strengthen its position in the nickel industry and support the growth of the domestic mining sector.

Harita Nickel's (NCKL) High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) smelter to be operational by mid-2024.

JAKARTA, Investor.id – Four top-tier securities firms have initiated stock research on PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) or Harita Nickel. They are Mandiri Sekuritas (Mansek), CGS-CIMB Sekuritas, Sucor Sekuritas, and BRI Danareksa Sekuritas.
Those brokers have given a positive recommendation for NCKL stock, either as a "buy" or "add," with varying target prices. The reason is that Harita Nickel has a promising outlook as it is an integrated nickel player, engaged in mining, ferronickel production, and the production of high-grade nickel, specifically nickel sulfate.
Mansek favors Harita Nickel because it has strong production growth, low operating costs, and exposure to high-pressure leach acid (HPAL) facilities that produce mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), which is a high-grade nickel product. The company will also produce nickel sulfate, a refined MHP product, which serves as a precursor for electric vehicle battery cathodes.
Mansek noted that Harita Nickel's ferronickel production is predicted to reach 120,000 tons in 2024, up from 95,000 tons in 2022, with the operation of the new capacity of PT Halmahera Jaya Feronikel (HJF). Furthermore, Harita Nickel's associate company, PT Karunia Permai Sentosa (KPS), is currently constructing a ferronickel plant with a capacity of 185,000 tons per year. As a result, Harita Nickel will have an exposure to ferronickel of 305,000 tons by 2025.
Meanwhile, Harita Nickel, through PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL), currently has an HPAL facility with a capacity of 55,000 tons per year from stages I and II. Furthermore, Harita Nickel's associate company, PT Obi Nickel Cobalt (ONC), will be constructing HPAL stage III with a capacity of 65,000 tons per year. By 2024, Harita Nickel will have an exposure to MHP of 120,000 tons per year.
Accordingly, Mansek predicts Harita Nickel's revenue will achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 49% during 2022-2025, which will be supported by the expansion of ferronickel production lines and an increased contribution from nickel mining. The company's net profit is projected to jump to Rp 8.7 trillion in 2025, compared to Rp 8.7 trillion last year.
Mansek recommends buying NCKL shares with a target price of IDR 1,450, based on a 2023 and 2024 PER of 15.6 times and 11 times, a discount from PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO) shares which have a 2023 and 2024 PER of 16.5 times and 17.2 times, but are equivalent to PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), which is 10.7 times and 10.8 times.
BRI Danareksa Sekuritas also recommends buying NCKL shares with a target price of Rp 1,400, offering a potential gain of 40.7%. This broker assumes that the long-term nickel price will reach US$19,000 per ton.
"We believe that PT Obi Stainless Steel (OSS) and other downstream products can boost NCKL shares to the valuation we have set," wrote BRI Danareksa, quoted on Tuesday (June 20, 2023).
Meanwhile, Sucor Sekuritas noted that Harita Nickel has spent Rp 24 trillion in capital expenditure (capex) to build a rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) smelter for ferronickel production, HPAL, and mining development during 2020-2022.
This broker sets a buy recommendation for NCKL shares with a target price of Rp 1,250 within the next 12 months, with a PER (Price-to-Earnings Ratio) of 12.4 times, which is lower than competitors 14 times. Sucor likes NCKL because it generates significant free cash flow, has strong business growth driven by downstream projects, efficient cost structure, and potential for a ferronickel price recovery.
CGS-CIMB recommends adding NCKL shares with a target price of Rp 1,200. The strong catalysts for this stock are the recovery of nickel pig iron and nickel sulfate/MHP prices.

4 Brokers Jointly Researched on Harita Nickel, Found Potential Gain Over 40%

JAKARTA, Investor.id – PT Trimegah Bangun Persada (TBP) Tbk (NCKL), also known as Harita Nickel, through its associate company, PT Obi Nickel Cobalt (ONC), is investing around US$ 1.1 billion or equivalent to Rp 16.4 trillion to build a phase III high pressure acid leach (HPAL) plant. ONC is a joint venture between Harita Nickel and Chinese nickel company Lygend Resources &amp; Technology.
Previously, Harita Nickel through PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL) had also completed construction of a nickel sulfate plant, in South Halmahera, North Maluku. This is the first plant in Indonesia and the largest in the world in terms of production capacity.
Director of HPL Tonny H Gultom explained that the third phase of HPAL plant construction under ONC has started since mid-2022. To this day, he said, its progress is still in the HPAL construction stage.
Meanwhile, HPAL's main machine is an autoclave consisting of three units that have landed at Obi Island, North Maluku.
"So, for HPAL phase III, we are ongoing. One autoclave has been installed and just needs to install its accessories. While another autoclave will arrive this month," Tonny explained to Investor Daily, recently.
Regarding investment value for HPAL phase III, Tony said that it is around US$1.1 billion, almost equal to the HPAL project that has been built. In fact, he continued, the investment value may be slightly higher due to price increases.
When asked about its funding sources, Tonny admitted that he could not explain in detail. But clearly, the use of funds from Harita Nickel's Initial Public Offering (IPO) is still in accordance with the company's commitment to build Indonesia from Obi Island.
" This HPAL construction is still referring to efficient nickel ore mining. This means that saprolite mining for RKEF and limonite for HPAL are carried out simultaneously with limonite in the mine. Then, continue to mine saprolite at the bottom," said Tonny.
As planned, HPAL phase III with a capacity of 65,000 tons of nickel sulfate and 75,000 tons of cobalt is expected to be in full production in the first quarter of 2024. Gradually, its capacity is also expected to continue to increase to 120,000 tons in 2024 after all projects are completed.
HPL first successfully produced battery-grade nickel sulfate on March 25, 2023. Correspondingly, NCKL will continue to refine and increase its production until reaching a total production capacity of 240 thousand metric tons (MT) of nickel sulfate per year which is expected to be achieved by this mid-year.
Stay Solid
Samuel Sekuritas analyst Juan Harahap remains optimistic that Harita Nickel will post solid growth this year, supported by additional production capacity of RKEF and HPAL of 95 thousand tons and 18 thousand tons, respectively. In addition, better margin potential, as the company will convert MHP products into nickel sulfate.
Meanwhile, nickel sulfate production is estimated at 37 thousand tons and cobalt sulfate at 4,500 tons. The project is planned to commence in April 2023 and June 2023, respectively.
Juan added that his party made several adjustments to NCKL's projections.
First, he cut FeNis's ASP projection by 9.3%, in line with the decline in FOB NPI Indonesia price, and second, he cut MHP's price projection by 16.7%.
"We maintain our buy rating on NCKL shares, with a lower target price of IDR 1,500 per share from IDR 2,000 per share previously," said Juan.

Harita Nickel Expands its HPAL Plant Phase III with Investment Value of Idr 16 Trillion

JAKARTA, iNews.id - PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) once again made history. An integrated nickel mining and downstream company owned by the Harita group has successfully produced nickel sulfate as a raw material for making electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

NCKL Corporate Secretary, Franssoka Y Sumarwi, said a nickel sulfate plant operated by PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (PT HPL), a subsidiary of NCKL, has now entered its ramping up stage or a significant increase to reach full production capacity.
She said the nickel sulfate plant operating in Obi Island, North Maluku, is the first to operate in Indonesia and the largest in the world by production capacity.
"PT HPL successfully produced battery-grade nickel sulfate for the first time on March 25, 2023. We are very grateful because this is a new milestone in new energy resources in Indonesia," Franssoka said in a press release on the tbpnickel.com website, Wednesday (5/24/2023).

PT HPL's success in producing raw materials for electric vehicle battery cathode precursors has made Indonesia's position in the electric vehicle battery industry map increasingly taken into account. 
Franssoka further revealed that NCKL continues to refine and increase production until it reaches a total production capacity of 240 thousand metric tons (MT) of nickel sulfate per year which is expected in mid-2023.
For information, PT HPL previously pioneered in producing a mixture of nickel and cobalt, Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) in 2021. In addition to producing nickel sulfate, this MHP downstream and refining will also produce cobalt sulfate (CoSO4). Nickel sulfate and cobalt sulfate are both core materials for making new energy source cathodes, namely electric vehicle batteries.&nbsp; &nbsp;
"These two compounds are a real success example of conservation and mineral added value improvement, as they come from a low grade nickel ore or limonite processing and refining that previously could not be processed or became overburden. The right technology, namely High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) and a high work ethic make this possible," Franssoka added.
PT HPL's production capacity allows the company to process and refine its entire MHP production into nickel sulfate and cobalt sulfate. However, by 2023, the NCKL subsidiary only plans to process around 50 percent of MHP into nickel sulfate. PT HPL is also exploring sales with several potential buyers and the first export of nickel sulfate is expected to be carried out in early June 2023.
"In the future, the company will continue to improve its entire nickel resource industry chain, as well as become a new energy material manufacturing company that prioritizes environmental management and community empowerment and contributes to industrial development," Franssoka concluded.

Operates Nickel Sulfate Plant, NCKL becomes the First EV Battery Material Manufacturer in Indonesia

In an effort to implement sustainable business practices, PT Trimegah Bangun Persada, also known as Harita Nickel, processes nickel slag, which is residual waste from smelter processing, into high-quality premium building materials with economic value. Nickel slag is classified as one of the four B3 waste sources that are exempt from being classified as B3 waste or can be considered a by-product, according to Article 54 of Government Regulation (PP) Number 101 of 2014. The other three waste sources are fly ash, steel slag, and spent bleaching earth.

As stated on the official website of the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, nickel slag has chemical compounds similar to those found in natural aggregates commonly used as construction materials. This indicates that nickel slag has the potential to be utilized as a construction material, thereby reducing natural resource exploitation.

Harita Nickel has developed various products made from nickel slags, such as bricks, precast and ready-mix concrete, road base and fields, soil improvers, growing media and fertilizers, mortar and slag cement, composite Portland cement, and geopolymer cement. The company's highest production from optimized nickel slag is bricks, with 40,000 units produced per day, which have above-average quality compared to similar materials.

According to Tonny Gultom, the Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental Operation Department of Harita Nickel Group, the utilization of nickel slag into bricks has undergone research and development for approximately one year. Tonny stated that the produced bricks have sufficient solidity and are heavier and stronger, owing to the formulation consisting of 85% nickel slag, 10% fly ash (residual coal-fired power plant ash), and 5% cement.

With this premium quality, the economic value of nickel slag bricks is around Rp 4,000 per unit, making them more expensive than ordinary bricks. This represents a potential additional income for Harita Nickel from the non-core business sector worth Rp 58 billion per year. However, the company has not yet marketed this product outside of Pulau Obi due to high logistics costs. For now, the company only fulfills local needs, such as for the construction of the New Residential Area of Desa Kawasi, which is designed with an eco-village concept, road infrastructure, and sidewalks.

Tonny H Gultom, the Director of Health, Safety and Environment at Harita Nickel (PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk), stated that the company plans to reduce coal consumption at the smelting facility by installing solar panels on the ground and rooftops. This step aligns with the government's directive to gradually stop the operation of coal-fired power plants until 2060, supporting Indonesia's plan to achieve net-zero emissions.
However, the company faces challenges, as reducing emissions requires significant effort. The company is discussing with the government to overcome these challenges. The use of renewable energy sources is still hindered by technology and high costs, according to Tonny.
Currently, Harita Nickel uses coal-fired power plants to support its business operations in both mining and downstream sectors. Obi Island is a suitable location for developing new renewable energy sources (EBT) through the development of PLTS.
