Harita Nickel organized its Ramadan Safari 1447 H in Obi Island, South Halmahera, reaching hundreds of residents through iftar meal distribution, support for orphans, and Eid gift packages.
Held from March 9–14, 2026, the initiative covered villages in the company’s surrounding operational areas as part of efforts to expand social impact while strengthening engagement with local communities.
Harita Nickel’s Community Relations Manager, Riyadi Supriyadi, said the Ramadan Safari serves as a platform for the company to connect more closely with the community. “Through this Ramadan Safari, we aim to share and strengthen our bond with the community, especially orphans and those in need,” he said.
The program began with Ramadan on the Road on March 9–10, 2026, in collaboration with youth groups across five villages in Obi District: Jikotamo, Buton, Laiwui, Akegula, and Baru. Iftar meals were distributed at key community activity points, creating a sense of togetherness while supporting residents on their way home before breaking their fast.
The activities continued with communal iftar gatherings and support for orphans in several villages. At Al-Ikhlas Mosque in Akegula Village, 260 orphans received assistance in the presence of local government representatives, community leaders, and company representatives. In Soligi Village, a similar event was held at Al Baqi Mosque, where 158 orphans received support.
Soligi Village Secretary Wahyudin Hamani expressed appreciation for the initiative. “This support motivates the children to keep learning and pursuing their aspirations,” he said.
Overall, this year’s Ramadan Safari reached three main villages: Akegula, Soligi, and Kawasi, with a total of 463 orphans receiving assistance. In addition, more than 1,100 Eid gift packages were distributed to communities around the operational areas.
Beyond providing aid, the program created meaningful interactions that strengthened social ties between the company and the community. Amid the spirit of Ramadan, this sense of togetherness grew in simple yet meaningful ways.
Through the Ramadan Safari, Harita Nickel reaffirms its role not only as an industrial player but also as part of the social fabric of communities in its surrounding areas.
