In commemoration of National Health Day 2025, Harita Nickel brought free medical services directly to residents of Air Mangga Village and Tabuji Hamlet on 15 December 2025. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to improving the quality of life in communities surrounding its operational areas through preventive and promotive health programs.
The activity aligns with the Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-Being, and Harita Nickel’s sustainability policy, which places community health as a key foundation for inclusive and resilient social development.
In addition to free health services, the program also included Basic Life Support (BLS) and emergency response training. The training equipped community members with first-aid skills to respond to emergencies such as cardiac arrest, breathing failure, accidents, and bone fractures before professional medical assistance arrives.

This initiative is especially important for villages that are located far from healthcare facilities. By strengthening community capacity at the village level, Harita Nickel supports the development of resilient communities that are better prepared to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.
“Many villages are located quite far from healthcare facilities. Through this program, we want to bring health services closer to the community while also strengthening their basic skills to handle emergencies that may occur at any time,” said Ragil Pardiantoro, Community Development Supervisor of Harita Nickel.
The free health services included blood pressure checks, basic medical examinations, health consultations, and health education. The program reached around 300 residents from Air Mangga Village and Tabuji Hamlet, including health volunteers, village officials, community leaders, and youth representatives.
High community participation reflected the strong enthusiasm of residents throughout the activity. One resident of Air Mangga Village, Jelny Gusu, shared that the training and health checks provided valuable knowledge she had never received before.
“Through this training, we learned how to help someone who faints, how to handle bleeding, and even how to respond to broken bones. This is very important because if an accident happens, we already have the knowledge to help,” she said.
Cross-sector collaboration was a key strength of the program. Head of Laiwui Community Health Center, Sumarni Malang, emphasized that partnerships between companies, healthcare workers, and local governments play an important role in strengthening health services at the village level.
“This activity strongly supports our ongoing preventive and promotive health efforts. Collaboration with Harita Nickel has a real impact on the community, especially in early disease detection and improving health awareness,” she said.
The Head of the South Halmahera District Health Office, Asia Hasjim, expressed her appreciation for the free medical examinations and treatment provided in the mining area. She hopes that such activities can be increased and expanded in scope in 2026 so that efforts to prevent various diseases can be carried out more accurately and comprehensively.
Similar appreciation was also expressed by the Head of Air Mangga Village, Fransiskus Salauwe. "The community's response has been very positive. We hope that activities like this will not stop at just one moment, but can be sustained and further strengthen health services in the village," he said.
Through this initiative, Harita Nickel reaffirms its commitment to working closely with healthcare workers, local governments, and communities in strengthening promotional and preventive services and building an inclusive health ecosystem around the company's operational areas.
