December has arrived. Before you know it, 2022 is already nearing its end. This month, Christmas and New Year's Eve are two of the calendar’s most eagerly awaited occasions. For Harita employees living in urban areas, and also the thousands more working at the Obi site in South Halmahera, North Maluku, this is a time for enthusiastic celebration.
Each Harita Nickel business unit celebrates Christmas with services open to all Christians in the mining area. Given that Harita Nickel employees come from diverse ethnic and tribal backgrounds, the Christmas services also include entertainment in the form of traditional North Maluku dances as a way to celebrate the local culture.
On New Year's Eve, each Harita Nickel business unit also hosts lively celebrations with a variety of events. These include music festivals, barbecues, food bazaars, and many more. Finally, a festive fireworks display marks the end of 2022 and the beginning of a new chapter in 2023.
