Harita Continuous Improvement (HCI) 2024 was officially closed with the awarding of the group level champion title. As a result, participants from Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (TBP) and Gane Permai Sentosa (GPS) clusters won first place with a proposal entitled “Duplication Efficiency in Production Sample Analysis using WD XRF in 2024.”
This proposal presents an innovation in the process of analyzing nickel laterite samples in the TBP laboratory using Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (WD-XRF) technology, aiming to reduce process duplication. The innovation has not only succeeded in saving costs, but also has a positive impact on environmental sustainability, increased productivity and occupational health and safety.
In second place was achieved by participants from the Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL) cluster, PT Obi Nickel Cobalt and PT Dharma Cipta Mulia with the proposal title “Energizing GAC Waste to Eco-Efficiency Processing”, which successfully processed Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) waste into alternative fuel in power plants. Third, a proposal from the cluster of PT Halmahera Jaya Feronikel (HJF), PT Karunia Permai Sentosa and PT Obi Sinar Timur entitled “Automatic Pendulum Ferronickel Cast Machine” and fourth proposal from Megah Surya Pertiwi (MSP) entitled “Utilization of Used Cooking Oil as a Coal Fuel Substitution in Dry Kiln Ore Smelter”.
The group-level HCI 2024 champion was determined through a rigorous assessment by a jury from the board of directors and management. Its composition consists of Roy Arman Arfandy as President Director of Harita Nickel, Younsel Evand Roos as Director of Operations, Rivan Lie as Head of Business Control, Wei Qiang as representative of MSP management and Zhao Xiao as representative of HJF management.
Roy Arman Arfandy said HCI is an initiative to encourage all the best ideas, which can impact sustainable change for the company. Innovative ideas from Harita's employees are needed to answer the challenges of an increasingly competitive downstream industry and at the same time establish Harita Nickel's position as a responsible integrated mining company.
Furthermore, Roy expressed his appreciation to the champions and participants of HCI 2024 who have contributed their best ideas for the company's progress. He hopes that these proposals from the champions representing business units can be implemented on a larger scale, and even if possible, also applied in other business units.
“I congratulate the champions of HCI 2024. We would also like to express our highest appreciation to all participants who have contributed. Furthermore, we are waiting for the best ideas from all Harita employees at the 2025 HCI event,” said Roy.
The group level HCI 2024 competition was attended by four participants representing each business unit of Harita Nickel site Obi Island. These four participants are each the first winner of the business unit level competition, which is grouped in TBP, MSP, HPL and HJF clusters.
Sukarman A Akil, representing participants from the TBP cluster, said he was proud that his team could become the first winner in the group-level HCI 2024 competition. According to him, the success of his team is inseparable from the role of mentors and facilitators who have provided support and guidance. Therefore, he dedicates this title to colleagues in his department and also all Harita employees in TBP and GPS.
Similarly, Catur Prasetyo, Group Leader of HPL cluster participants. He also appreciated the company management for providing a room for Harita employees to innovate. According to him, HCI is a real implementation of the HARITA values, including Humility, Achievement Oriented, Respect for every individual, Integrity, Teamwork and Accountability.
With this spirit of continuous improvement, Harita Nickel continues to encourage all Harita employees to create innovative solutions that have a real impact on the company, environment and society.
