Red lanterns swayed gently in the evening breeze, casting a warm glow on the faces of employees gathered in celebration. At PT Megah Surya Pertiwi (MSP) futsal field, the crackling bonfire blended with laughter and cheerful conversations among employees. The rich aroma of traditional Chinese New Year cuisine filled the air, creating an inviting atmosphere of togetherness.
Around the long dining table, local and expatriate employees sat together, sharing a grand feast, stories, and happiness. There were no barriers, only laughter and a shared sense of unity that warmed the night.
On January 28, 2025, several Harita Nickel business units operating on Obi Island hosted this annual Chinese New Year event, a tradition eagerly awaited each year. For Harita Nickel, this event is more than just a routine celebration; it is a genuine reflection of the diversity and camaraderie that have become an integral part of the company’s culture.
“This Chinese New Year celebration is more than just an annual tradition—it is a moment to strengthen our bonds with one another. We hope to continue fostering strong relationships between local and expatriate employees, bringing harmony and progress for all,” said Willy Kusuma Dewadi, Head of Technical Support at PT Megah Surya Pertiwi (MSP), in his opening remarks.
The festive spirit was equally vibrant at PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL), where the Activity Center came alive with oriental music, dance performances, and exciting door prize giveaways, further enriching the celebratory atmosphere. Meanwhile, at PT Halmahera Jaya Feronikel (HJF), rows of golden-red lanterns illuminated the venue as employees gathered for a grand New Year's banquet, exchanging well wishes for the year ahead.
As the night progressed, the Chinese New Year celebrations across Harita Nickel’s three business units reached their peak with a spectacular fireworks display. The vibrant lights lit up the sky over Obi Island, closing the evening with a symbol of hope and optimism for the new year.
For Insan Harita, Chinese New Year is more than just a celebration—it is a reflection of how diversity serves as a strength.
